ABOUT US – THE TEAM
We are a NZIA practice based in Albany (Auckland) and Havelock North. With a multi-talented team, we have extensive experience in education, commercial, community, residential and interior design projects. We can offer full consultancy services from assistance in developing a design brief, through to the various stages of design, tendering, and construction to bring the project to fruition. We have a hardworking, resourceful in-house team, as well as a network of other consultants and engineers to deliver your project.
Our education work includes early childhood centres, primary and secondary school developments, varying in size from the simplest of projects to whole school development plans. We also have extensive experience with upgrades and new buildings for education facilities catering for children with special needs.
Our residential projects include design of new residences and multi-unit developments, private townhouses, apartment developments, retirement villages and social housing.
With expertise in various forms of building upgrades, we can add value to your commercial and/or heritage/ earthquake strengthening projects and have completed weathertightness upgrades for commercial and larger residential projects.

Graeme Fanselow

Graeme has had many years’ experience in educational, retail, residential and other forms of Architecture. His calm demeaner and considered approach to all aspects of the industry as well as his incredible knowledge make him invaluable. When he does take time away from the office, he can be found enjoying the outdoors with his very understanding wife, Andrea.
Judith Cunningham
B. Arch, ANZIA Registered Architect
Judith has specialised in early childhood design, as well as other commercial, educational and residential projects. Judith joined as a director in 2013 and ensured that we continued to grow and explore other aspects of the industry. A passionate horse lover, Judith can be found using her excellent eye for detail, judging horses and their riders at the highest level.
Paul Taylor
B. Arch (Hons), NZCD, ANZIA Registered Architect
Paul has also had wide ranging experience in many architectural building typologies. Having worked with Fat Parrot Architecture since 2003 and becoming a director in 2013. He has a knack for overseeing quality control and gives great direction and guidance. Paul has a passion for music and the outdoors, although we’re not sure that nature would appreciate his music system.

John is one of the founding directors of Fat Parrot (1998) and has a wealth of experience in the commercial, educational and developmental sector. Having handed over the reins, John’s wealth of knowledge is drawn on when required.

Pierre du Toit
B. Arch Cape Town, ANZIA Registered Architect
With over 30 years’ experience, Pierre is a founding director of Fat Parrot. He has had wide ranging experience in commercial, residential and heritage projects. Pierre started the Hawke’s Bay office in 2000, having discovered and appreciated the joys of living in the Bay, which had a feel of the Paarl region in South Africa, from where Pierre originates. An avid traveler, Pierre can entertain you with his many adventures from around the globe.
